The Minister of the Presidency, Juan Carlos Orillac, leads a visit to the Dominican Republic in order to learn about the cable transport system in the capital of this country, Santo Domingo. The director of the Panama Metro, César Pinzón, traveled with the minister.
The appointment of Orillac was announced this Friday, August 30, by the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino. At the same time, Orillac shared on his X account, formerly Twitter, that he thanked the attention of his Dominican counterpart José Paliza. The visit is a response to the invitation that Dominican ruler Luis Abinader extended to President Mulino, in order to exchange the experience of the Dominican cable car.
In Panama, the Cabinet Council declared the cable car project in the districts of Panama and San Miguelito of public interest. In addition, Resolution Nº 78-24 of August 20, 2024 was approved, which authorizes Metro de Panamá, S.A. to begin the process of studies and selection of the concessionaire for this work.
“We invite you, along with the team you consider, to visit the Dominican Republic in order to learn about this innovative system that has been a success within the Public Transport Network, achieving efficiency in urban connectivity and developing safe mobility,” highlights the formal invitation note.
José González Cuadra, executive director of the Unit for the Readequation of Neighborhoods and Environments (URBE) – of the Dominican Republic – highlights in the note that “our technicians will be at your entire disposal to know this efficient transport system and provide any necessary information or consultation of this system.
