The Panamanian government filed before the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP- Prosecutor’s Office) a criminal complaint against the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht, which is investigated for the payment of millionaire bribes in the country.
The criminal complaint for crimes “against the economic order and public administration and against any other crime that results from the investigation” was issued on Monday by the Panamanian Minister of Public Security, Alexis Bethancourt.
The government of President Juan Carlos Varela had announced on December 28 that he would file the complaint against Odebrecht to claim public funds that may have been embezzled.
