Panama stood out at FITUR 2024 with innovative community tourism experiences

The tourist experiences of the four finalists of the Innovative Community Tourism Experiences contest, which highlight the natural and cultural heritage of Panama, as well as the authenticity of its local communities, were presented during the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2024, which was held in Madrid, Spain.

The CEO of the Tourism Promotion Fund (PROMTUR) Panama, Fernando Fondevila, explained that each of these experiences from various provinces of the country such as Colón, Bocas del Toro, Chiriquí, Veraguas, Darién and the Azuero peninsula, were presented in order to highlight and promote the great natural and cultural attraction that Panama has to offer to the world through unique and authentic experiences.

“Part of the objectives at this international fair for Panama has been to unify efforts committed to promoting and promoting the advances of sustainable tourism throughout the national territory,” Fondevila stressed.

Among the presentations that announced their work at FITUR are: in the Puente del Mundo category: experience “Live the Caribbean and more: Pirates, Connections and Nature of the Caribbean of Panama, presented by Tour Operator El Trip de Jenny and the community group Los Rapaces Ecoturismo of the province of Colón.

In the Panama Multicultural category: “Panama Sand & Folklore” experience, by the Baleana Travel Operator Tour and the ProTurismo Multiple Service Cooperative community group of the province of Herrera.

While in the Forests of Life category: experience “Through the Isthmus: the Crystalline Northwest”, presented by the Panama Heavens Tour Operator and the community group Cooperativa de Turismo Santa Fe R.L. of the province of Veraguas.

And in the category Birds in Paradise: experience “The Secrets of Playa Muerto”, by the Tour Operator Ancón Expeditions and the community group Cooperativa de Turismo de Playa Muerto R.L. of the province of Darién.

For her part, the General Administrator of the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), Denise Guillén, highlighted the work that is done as a country with a view to continuing to strengthen Panama’s positioning worldwide as a sustainable tourism destination, with unique and authentic products that seek to attract the conscious tourist who wants to connect and improve the destination they visit.
