Panama: Public Investments for 2017

The budget for 2017 approved by the Congress includes $4.764 billion in investments, of which $632 million will go to Metro de Panama.

From a statement issued by the National Assembly of Panama:

  • NFPS investment amounts to 4.764 million dollars.
  • 632 million designated for Lines 1, 2 and 3 of Metro de Panama.

The National Assembly today approved the General State Budget for the term 2017, amounting to 21.675 million dollars. 

Non-Financial Public Sector (NFPS) investments under this program amounted to 4.764 million and most of that amount corresponds to flagship projects of the current administration, among which are the following:

  • 632 million for the Metro of Panama, divided up as follows: 406 million for Line 2, which includes the extension of San Miguelito to Tumba Muerto. 107 million for Line 3, connecting the West sector with the city of Panama. 76 million for improvements and expansion of Line 1 towards Villa Zaita and the purchase of new train cars. And 43 million for urban improvement works associated with lines 1 and 2. 
  • Colon urban renewal (122 million).
  • Basic Health 100 / zero (51 million).
  • Roofs of Hope (126 million).
  • Universal Scholarship (170 million)
