Panama’s Secretary of Energy, Juan Manuel Urriola, announced that the country is preparing to relaunch ethanol production as part of a strategy to position itself as a regional leader in biofuels.
The announcement was made during the “Regional Ethanol Seminar”, where the importance of this initiative to promote a more sustainable energy future in the region was highlighted.
Urriola highlighted that the reactivation of Ethanol production will not only bring environmental benefits by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but will also generate economic benefits, including the creation of new jobs.
This initiative has the support of President José Raúl Mulino and is accompanied by the design of a new regulatory framework to ensure that the use of ethanol is sustainable and successful in the long term.
“Our goal is not only to reintroduce Ethanol, but also to gradually increase the percentage of its mixture, in collaboration with all the entities and private companies involved,” Urriola said during his speech.
