The National Secretariat of Energy (SNE) finalized an intense agenda of meetings for the promotion of renewable energies and green hydrogen as a sustainable fuel for the maritime industry in the sphere of the blue economy.
During the recent Our Ocean 2023 convention, together with the Panamanian Foreign Minister, Janaina Tawaney, Energy Secretary Jorge Rivera Staff spoke about the progress of the Energy Transition Agenda (ATE) with the United States Special Envoy for Climate, John Kerry, and the U.S. Ambassador to Panama, Mari Carmen Aponte, who showed their enthusiasm for the Panamanian vision in terms of clean
Similarly, during the plenary: “Decarbonization of maritime transport: A way to achieve the climate objectives of Paris and green economies, Secretary Rivera Staff expanded the goals and strategies of the ATE and presented the benefits of the strategic green hydrogen project promoted by the National Government through the SNE. The Prime Minister of Fiji, Sitiveni Rabuka; the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization, Kitack Lim; among other leaders/experts from the private and public sector at the global level, invited to the Our Ocean 2023 Conference, also participated in this meeting.
On the other hand, Secretary and Undersecretary Rosilena Lindo held a meeting with Nelson Mojarro, Director of Innovation of the International Maritime Chamber of London. They also talked with the delegates of Portugal in relation to the Energy Transition and the potential of Panama for maritime transport and logistics with a vision towards the green corridors. They also exchanged updates and projections with Jan-Christoph NapiersKi, of the Mckinney Moller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping.
