The union of private companies is promoting a reform that allows strengthening of the administration of justice and ensures the independence of judges and prosecutors.

From a statement issued by the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (CCIAP):

JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION

In recent days, public opinion has been shocked by various facts relating to investigations being conducted over accusations of crimes against the public administration.  Much has been said about the granting of precautionary measures which are potentially disproportionate and other questionable actions, creating unease and unrest.

What has occurred in recent weeks, has led us once again to express concern at the situation of our administration of justice, which in turn impacts our economy, affecting our international image and endangering the full development of the country. According to the Global Competitiveness Index of the World Economic Forum, within the institutional measurements on Judicial Independence, we occupy the 119th position out of 140 countries evaluated. This is unacceptable. We would remind people that confidence in the rule of law, respect for fundamental rights and legal certainty is essential for the development of the economy and attracting quality investments, especially in this critical economic scenario now seen in Latin America.
