From October 7 to 18, 2025, Panama City becomes a vibrant hub for contemporary dance with the 14th edition of PRISMA – Panama’s International Contemporary Dance Festival. This year’s festival features over 60 cultural events, including performances, masterclasses, public space presentations, laboratories, and community encounters.
Artists from around the world—Germany, Canada, Cyprus, Costa Rica, Spain, France, Ireland, Mexico, Panama, Poland, and the Republic of the Congo—are participating, sharing the best of contemporary dance with the local audience. Performances are taking place at various venues, such as the National Theatre, the Ateneo at Ciudad del Saber, the Biomuseo, the Fundación Espacio Creativo, and even the Panama Metro.
The festival emphasizes education and inclusion, offering a wide range of free masterclasses and two creation residencies. One residency, led by Lali Ayguadé (Spain), is aimed at professional dancers, while the other, led by Jason Martin (Canada), focuses on youth at social risk. Additionally, the “Escribir la Danza” laboratory, conducted by Joaquim Noguero Riba (Spain), combines movement and language in a unique creative space.
Participating companies include Aterno (Mexico), CFB 451 (France), Cia. Lali Ayguadé (Spain), Cia. Nadine Gerspacher (Germany/Spain), Cie. Wa-táa (Panama), Coco Danza (Panama), ENTITEY / Jason Martin (Canada), Jona Valdivieso (Panama), Mufutau Yusuf (Ireland/Nigeria), Nelly Mosquera (Panama), Stylish Junkies Collective (Cyprus), and Tobias Piero Dohm (Germany).
Supported by local and international institutions, PRISMA 2025 reaffirms its mission to open pathways where contemporary dance connects cultures, inspires transformation, and brings art to all.
