Panamá Pacífico is emerging as an area for companies in the semiconductor business to be installed focused on the testing, packaging, assembly and distribution of these technological products.

This was indicated by Henry Kardonski, General Manager of Panama Pacific (London & Regional Panama), to develop the area, who pointed out that the destination of this area is to attract high-tech investments.

“We have prepared to have first-class infrastructure, around Panama Pacific that can prove that we are ready to receive sophisticated investment in our country, as in the case of semiconductors,” he said.

He specified that there are agreements with universities such as the Technological University of Panama, Senacyt, ITSE and Inadeh to have an ecosystem that empowers the human resources required by the industries operating in Panama Pacific.

“The challenge we have is that next year we will have the first company linked to the semiconductor sector. We have already done it before with companies in the logistics sector, high-tech manufacturing and other investments.”

“The challenge we have is that next year we will have the first company linked to the semiconductor sector. We have already done it before with companies in the logistics sector, high-tech manufacturing and other investments.”

José Luis Moreno, president of the Association of Companies of Panama Pacific, stressed that in order to continue to be an axis of attraction for investments, the infrastructure in the area must be further improved, including roads, access to public services and train more staff that companies require.

Moreno indicated that the opportunity to take advantage of the arrival of semiconductor companies that are installed in the area will give an even greater profile to the high-tech manufacturing development ecosystem in Panama Pacific.

“We must reinforce the measures so as not to lose international competitiveness, and it will be a challenge to attract companies in the semiconductor sector at the same time as Startup and other companies,” he said.

He maintained that the association of companies of Panama Pacific will focus on attracting more investments that generate employment and that the area has all the facilities that these companies require to operate.
