Panama modernizes its medical infrastructure with spectral technology

News from Panama / Saturday, November 30th, 2024

Panama has taken an important step in the modernization of its medical infrastructure by having the first equipment in the region with spectral technology, also becoming the country with the most advanced tomography in Latin America, a model of 512 cuts.

This innovation makes a big difference for both doctors and patients, as it significantly improves the diagnosis and follow-up of various diseases.

Spectral technology, which works similarly to conventional tomography, is distinguished by its ability to use both low and high energies, this difference allows you to generate a wider spectrum of gray scales, which results in images of greater definition and precision.

This improvement facilitates the identification of medical conditions in a clearer and more detailed way, optimizing diagnostic processes.

One of the most relevant advances is that the new CT scanner allows cardiac studies to be performed on patients who have contraindications for magnetic resonance imaging, a procedure that often has limitations.

With this technology, high-quality images of tissue perfusion can be obtained, allowing doctors to delimit myocardial infarction areas and detect conditions in other organs with the same precision as in magnetic resonances.
