Our world class metro continues to expand with the Line 1 phase contract awarded.
The Panama North Line Consortium was awarded the contract for the design and construction of the works to extend Line 1 of the Metro to Villa Zaíta. On July 23, the resolution of the tender was published in the country’s public procurement portal, which explains that it was decided to award to the consortium formed by OHL, Sucursal de Obrascon Huarte Lain, S.A. and Mota Engenharia e Construcao Sucursal Panamá, the expansion works for a total of $177,969,848.33.
The project includes design engineering services, construction of civil works, auxiliary line installations and stations, and interfaces with the integral railway system for the extension of Line 1 of the Panama Metro to Villa Zaita.
According to the purchase specifications, the winning consortium shall coordinate with the agencies and the execution of the works corresponding to the projects of relocation, removal, cancellation, demolition or protection of service lines, pedestrian bridges, buildings, fences, advertising structures, and generally the visible and hidden facilities required to execute the works that are the reason for this specification, the supply of equipment, materials, labor and technical supervision to execute the works detailed in the documentation.
