The Minister of Environment of Panama, Juan Carlos Navarro, was elected by consensus as President of the Forum of Ministers of Environment of Latin America and the Caribbean for the period 2025–2027, during the XXIV meeting of the Forum in Lima.
Navarro said that his presidency will promote an agenda focused on effective conservation on the ground, the fight against pollution, the protection of biodiversity and regional cooperation. He stressed that regional integration is key to facing the environmental crisis.
Panama also proposes to unify global agendas through the Nature Pledge, and strengthen mechanisms such as the Natural Panama Fund to ensure sustainable environmental financing.
The Forum brings together 33 countries and is the main space for dialogue and joint action in the face of environmental challenges in the region.
