This is great news as the investment in our regional airports continue.
Tocumen is preparing a plan to tender several expansion works and equipment at the airfields of Panama Pacific, David, Colon and Rio Hato.
One of the regional airports where Tocumen plans to invest in order to improve its functionality is Panama Pacific, which is projected to double capacity of the terminal in order to handle five flights simultaneously instead of two, increasing the number of airline counters from 3 to 7 and improving the waiting area for departing passengers and the migration area.
Prensa.com explains that “… they will also be installing moving belts for luggage. Likewise, work will also be done on the lighting and horizontal and vertical signage on the runway and taxiways in order to conform to international standards and growth projections for the Tocumen terminal, as well as various safety aspects.”
For the Enrique Malek Airport in David, several improvements will also be made. “… Before the end of this year a tender will be launched for the expansion and improvement of its platform, which will cost about $1 million. The 226,162 passengers who arrived at the airport with Air Panama and Copa Airlines in the first eight months of the year suggest that the total figure for 2016 will surpass the 260,603 transported in 2015. “
And for 2017, “…The tenders scheduled for 2017 include a new fuel system; adjustments to the terminal’s rescue and fire fighting station; coffee shops; FBO services (business aviation); lighting for the runways, taxiways and platform and expanding the parking lots.”
