Government officials will be joined by members of the private sector and other stakeholders to discuss the progress that the Panamanian Government has made in addressing this global threat.
PRNewswire/ — On Wednesday May 10th, Panamanian government officials will convene a Forum in Panama City with leading private sector stakeholders and academic experts to present the country’s aggressive national strategy to prevent money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
This forum represents another crucial step taken by President Varela’s administration to protect Panama’s financial platform from those who intend to abuse it. “Our Administration continues to show unparalleled commitment to expand and enhance the strategies and financial controls to decrease our country’s vulnerabilities to these global threats,” said Minister Dulcidio De La Guardia regarding the forum.
Panama’s world-class services platform is key to the country’s competitiveness and a pivotal hub for global business, and the country’s strategy strives to protect it from the global threat of money laundering.
The forum will include presentations from the Secretary General of the National Commission against Money Laundering, Secretary General of the Superintendency of Banks, the Director of the Financial Analysis Unit, and other regulation agencies, and will allow participating stakeholders to gain an understanding of the four pillars of the government’s National Strategy: prevention, intelligence, justice and institutional development, as well as the advances and consequences of the implementation.
The forum will take place at the Sheraton Hotel, on May 10th at 8:00 a.m.
