The construction of the energy generation plant using natural gas by AES Colon will be financed with a syndicated loan from the CABEI, Banistmo, Bancolombia and other banks.
Those involved in the syndicated loan are Banistmo, Bancolombia, the Central American Economic Integration Banco General and Global Bank, reports Capital.com.pa. The plant, which will have the capacity to generate up to 381 MW of energy from natural gas, was announced in 2015 by the company AES Colon, who was awarded the contract to supply 350 MW of power.
In a statement referred to by an article on Capital.com.pa, “Aimeé Sentmat de Grimaldo, CEO of Banistmo said that ‘For Banistmo, having the opportunity to lead this project means being consistent with our aim to positively transform the peoples lives, as it will have a direct impact on increasing the country’s energy capacity’.”
“… It is estimated that construction of the plant will start in June, and it will use technology to create efficiencies and contribute to environmental conservation. This technology reuses the heat from emitted gases and saves fuel (LNG) in the production of electricity. ”
