The Panama Canal Authority has released its October, 2015 update of the Panama Canal Expansion project via YouTube, which shows the project’s most up-to-date position for the construction of a third set of locks.

The overall project is now 94% completed, with the progress of the third set of locks being 93% completed. The electro-mechanical phase of installation continues, with three dams being built at the north end of the new Pacific locks.

The dams will contain the water of the new channel that will operate nine meters above the level of the existing dams.

To ensure safe navigation around the Panama Canal, a total of 33 range towers have been constructed to lead vessels during their transit to and from the canal.

It was previously announced that the Panama Canal was being flooded on the Pacific side, where a series of stress tests were carried out to test the capabilities of the 16 rolling gates.
