Panama Buys More Brazilian Furniture

In 2016 imports of home and office furniture in Panama totaled $127 million, and the value imported from Brazil grew by 4% compared to 2015..

Main importers 
Among the main importers of furniture in Panama are Muebles Jamar, Pricesmart, Furniture City, Fursys, Raenco International and Life Home Office.

Changes in imports  
Between 2015 and 2016, the value of imported home and office furniture in Panama fell by 12%, going from $145 million to $127 million.

However, in the last 4 years imports from Brazil have grown from $4 million in 2013 to $6 million in 2016.

Origin of imports 
In 2016, 24% of the value imported came from China, 19% from the USA, 9% from Colombia, 8% from Italy, 5% from Spain and 5% from Brazil.

Italy is the home market for imports which has grown the most in the last 5 years. In 2012 it represented 5% of the total value imported, and last year the figure rose to 8%.
