In an effort to promote economic development in the agricultural sector, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Panama, Alexis Pineda, met with representatives of the French embassy and the Center for International Cooperation in Agricultural Research for Development (CIRAD).

During the meeting, strategies were discussed to establish joint projects focused on improving coffee and cocoa production, as well as rural development.

CIRAD, an organization recognized for its experience in agricultural research and international cooperation, offers Panama the opportunity to collaborate in the implementation of more efficient cultivation systems and in the promotion of value chains in the agricultural sector.

This collaboration can not only improve the productivity and competitiveness of local crops, but also contribute to economic growth and employment in rural areas of the country.

Deputy Minister Pineda stressed the importance of this collaboration to strengthen the income capacities of rural and indigenous communities, especially those involved in the production of coffee and cocoa. In addition, he stressed the need to establish solid cooperation mechanisms that allow Panama to access financing and technical resources for long-term agricultural development projects.

The meeting between Panamanian and French representatives represents a key opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the agricultural field, with a clear focus on sustainable economic development.

Through collaboration with CIRAD and other international partners, Panama seeks to consolidate its position as an important player in regional agricultural production and improve its contribution to economic growth and stability in the country.
