Panama: $92 million for Educational Infrastructure

This year the Ministry of Education plans to allocate $92.5 million for the construction, renovation and maintenance of schools in different areas of the country.

Authorities at the Ministry of Education (Meduca) explained that out of the $92.5 million, almost $76 million will go towards building and renovating schools nationwide, and another $17 million will be allocated to maintenance work.

Deputy Minister Ricardo Pinzón explained to Elcapitalfinanciero.com that “… around 60% of the budget has been allocated, and progress has been made in executing 45%.

 He explained that all schools in the country are included in the maintenance plan through the different programs to be served.  In Panama there are 3,086 educational centers attending to 597,968 students.
