Panama: $230 million for New Free Trade Zone

The government has authorized Consorcio Industrial de las Américas to build a free zone in Pacora, in which 250 manufacturing companies, logistics services, high technology companies, assemblers, and companies from other sectors will set up.

The company Consorcio Industrial de las Américas, S.A. (COINLA) plans an investment of $230 million, starting with $50 million for the initial phase of infrastructure and $180 million in future investment.

From a statement issued by the Presidency of Panama:

In order to encourage investment and the generation of jobs, the Cabinet has issued a favorable ruling so that the National Free Zone Commission can authorize the establishment and operation of a free zone in the village of Pacora, Panama Province.

The resolution states that the creation of this free trade zone, which will be run by the company Consorcio Industrial de las Américas, S.A.  (COINLA) which will generate 6,000 direct jobs for workers who are general staff, mechanics, electricians, engineers as well as other indirect jobs, will be done according to the requirements, conditions, benefits, incentives and provisions of Law 32 of 5 April 2011.
