Panama: $100 million for Renovation Works

With IDB financing, renovation works will be carried out on the National Theater, a museum, fortifications in Portobelo and San Lorenzo and in national parks.

From a statement issued by the National Economic Council (CENA):

The CENA has issued a favorable opinion on two projects for loan contracts for the sum of 107 million dollars so that the IDB can partially finance execution of the program called “Support for the Conservation and Management of Cultural and Natural Heritage”.

The executing agency of the first loan, for 45 million dollars, will be the National Institute of Culture, among its activities is the renovation, enhancement and sustainable use of emblematic cultural assets such as the National Theater, the Reina Torres de Araúz Anthropological Museum and the Fortifications of Portobelo and San Lorenzo.

The second loan, for 62 million dollars, will be executed by the Ministry of Environment, which plans to intervene in the natural recovery of the national parks Coiba, Barú Volcano, Portobelo, Campana, Chagres, Camino de Cruces, Soberania and Bosque Protector and the San Lorenzo Protected Landscape.
