Panama’s 7% GDP will lead region in 2014

News from Panama / Monday, December 16th, 2013

It is not surprising that the growth has tapered off some this year and the double digit growth in the past few years is over.  One cannot sustain that kind of growth without the result of  rampant inflation as we have also seen occur here. Still tapering off, it will be far greater than any other LatAm country and comparable to China.

PANAMA’S gross domestic product (GDP) is forecast to reach seven percent in 2014, the the highest growth of all countries in the region.

The prediction comes from the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).

Latin America and the Caribbean will increase their growth rate to 3.2% from the 2.6% forecast for this year with exports benefiting from a more favorable international environment says ECLAC.
