Opportunity in Health and Wellness Products

This is a worldwide trend that I have seen explode here in Panama where the growing middle class and more are demanding “better for you” products.  Especially important to us here in Boquete will be the opportunities for high altitude organic green house vegetables

A statement from the Costa Rican Trade Office reads:
Sales of “Health and wellness” products in Mexico will grow by 49.3%

According to statistics from Euromonitor International, in 2015, sales of “Health & Wellness” products in Mexico will amount to USD 33,000 million, which is an increase of 49.3% compared to 2010.

This category covers a wide range of foods, in the case of “Better for you” products, projections indicate that there will be a growth of 55% in 2015 compared with 2010, to reach a turnover of $7,290 million (30% growth). In the area of “Fortified / Functional” products, sales will reach $15,450 million in three years and “naturally healthy” products will have sales of $7,880 million and will grow by 46.6%.

Finally, the highest growth numbers will be seen in the segment of “organic food” at 176%, with an expected turnover of $457 million.
