With the opening of six new McDonald´s restaurants in January 2024 throughout the national territory, more than 200 new employment opportunities will be generated, 70% of these for young people in their first job opportunity, as announced by Arcos Dorados, the franchise that operates these restaurants in the country.
The new restaurants will be located in the capital city, specifically in the areas of Albrook, San Vicente, La Mitra and Villalobos, and with each opening the company will employ about 55 people.
Currently, 60% of the total number of its employees are women and more than 65% are young people under 24 years of age, which causes greater dynamism in the economy and significant improvements in the quality of life of more Panamanian families.
Loney Armijo, Managing Director of Arcos Dorados Panama, mentioned that with the new openings the company reaffirms its commitment to contribute to the local economy, boost employability in the country and be increasingly closer to Panamanian families.
“McDonald’s has grown with the country. These openings consolidate us as the favorite fast-service restaurant of Panamanians and in turn, demonstrate our commitment as an investor and enhancer of the talent of our collaborators,” said Armijo.
He added that these restaurants will follow the line of their “Sustainable Restaurants”, the new McDonald’s 2.0, which they have implemented since 2022, this as part of their Recipe of the Future initiative.
Restaurants will be designed so that they can reduce their carbon footprint through certain actions such as: Motion sensors for energy saving, separation of waste in the lobby, kitchen and cellar.
