As 2009 came to an end, we closed escrow on another deal on the morning of the 31st back in the US and started celebrating the New Year early. 2009 was a turbulent year and most of my clients who listed and sold property with me through the run up were happy to have gotten out at the right time. Now comes 2010 and I am in Panama full time working with several clients who wish to invest here and several who want to sell what they bought here years ago and deploy the funds in other opportunistic buys. It looks to be an exciting year with a lot happening down here in Panama.
At home in Boquete in the Chiriqui province we expect to see some exciting things happening with President Ricardo Martinelli’s pledge of additional infrastructure investment and the expansion of our international airport in the provincial capital David with the potential for direct flights from Miami. This will be huge for tourism in this area. As in other areas of Panama, there is still a lot of potential for investment here in Chriqui both in real estate, businesses, small hydro power plants, ecotourism and my favorite, the sport fishing industry which is still in it’s infancy here on the “lost coast” of the Pacific as it is just being discovered.
The weather these days in Boquete is quite spectacular with blue bird skies and temps in the 70s most of the day. If ever there was a time to think about visiting Panama, now is that time. There is an abundance of activities from fishing for Marlin one day and hiking our 11,000 foot mountain called Baru the next. The cloud forests up in the higher altitudes are filled with wild life and the rivers offer excellent white water kayaking and rafting..
We opened the calender for 2010 and there is one festival and holiday after another so there will be plenty to see and do while you are here. We hope that you take the opportunity to come visit and discover this beautiful country of Panama and come see us in the province of Chiriqui.
