Last year the Panamanian Government proposed building a UN Regional Centre for Latin America and the Caribbean.  Now it has issued a tender for the construction of 4 buildings to house 16 regional offices of the Organization of the United Nations which has been scheduled for mid 2012.

An analyst in international relations, Julio Yao, acknowledges that “… with the construction of this building the country gain prestige in the international community will be seen to have more stability and reliability in the eyes of other nations in the world.”

The project is budgeted to cost approximatley $38 million and the work is expected to begin later this year.  Another testament to Panama becoming the Hub of The Americas.
