The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, announced that on October 19 he will be traveling to Paris, France, to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron, with whom he has an appointment scheduled for October 21, where they will talk about the inclusion of Panama in discriminatory lists.

“With the same energy with which I manifested it in the United Nations and I have expressed it here before you,” Mulino said during the conference on Thursdays with the media.

He added that France is an important country within the European Union (EU), so he will ask President Macron to express through his channel, the complaint, the disgust that Panama has for being among that group of countries on his lists that have nothing to do with what we are as a nation.

“I hope to travel to Paris on the 19th for the meeting with President Macron, who kindly invited me, and they will surely accompany me to the Chancellor, of course the Minister of Economy and Finance,” Mulino said.

In addition, the President mentioned that he is and I am thinking if he takes two representatives of the financial and commercial sector of the country on the trip, understood by the Banking Association and Chamber of Commerce, and clarified that he has not decided it, nor has he said it for the first time, since he has to see the whole scenario and also if the French protocol allows it, he will do it.

“If I’m going to be in Paris, God willing, on October 21, we will talk to President Macron, as one more step in a foreign policy that I want to lead aimed at solving this type of issue and putting Panama on the international agenda with dignity again,” said Mulino.

On the other hand, he mentioned that he is doing the same with meeting with Germany, although he has not yet had a specific meeting, and in Brussels with the Parliament, which is where an important sector of those who have Panama on the list of the European Parliament is.

He explained that at the moment the European Parliament is in transition, so it has to evaluate with the Foreign Ministry how convenient it is to talk to those who leave, and wait a little and talk to those who arrive.
