Motta Internacional has won one of the two highly sought-after duty-free concessions at Panama Tocumen International Airport’s Terminal Two.
The 10-year contract win will see Motta company Attenza Duty Free further expand its footprint in travel-retail in the region.
Attenza will operate a multi-category duty-free store across 1,452sqm of retail space at the expanded Panamanian airport. The new concession adds to Motta’s existing operations at Tocumen Airport T1, which reopened after a refurbishment in May 2018, after the company secured a 10-year contract in the terminal in August 2017.
Duty Free Americas also secured the 10-year contract in T1 and has bid for the T2 concessions alongside international players Dufry, DFS Group, DFASS and Gebr Heinemann. CEO Leon Falic told DFNI last month that the retailer was confidently looking ahead to the announcement of the tender result. DFNI is seeking confirmation from DFA on the second concession tender result.
This new terminal, set to open in the first quarter of 2019, will boost Tocumen International Airport’s capacity to handle 25 million passengers a year.
Motta International CEO Erasmo Orillac commented: “We are very pleased and excited about this new project not only because it reinforces our strong commitment to grow in the regional travel retail market, but also strengthens our relations with our commercial partners.”
The new Attenza Duty Free store will offer a range of products including liquors, tobacco, perfumes, cosmetics, accessories, confectionery, sunglasses, watches, writing instruments and fashion.
