Motorcycles: Business Grows in Central America

In the first six months of 2018, companies in the region imported $209 million in motorcycles, 20% more than in the same period in 2017.

Central American Market Increases
Between the first half of 2017 and the same period in 2018, the value imported into the region increased slightly by 20%, from $175 million to $209 million.

For the periods concerned, purchases from companies in China and India increased by 21% and 38%, respectively.

Guatemala, main importer
From January to June 2018, the main importer in the region remained Guatemala with $86 million, followed by Honduras with $44 million, Costa Rica with $30 million, Nicaragua with $24 million, El Salvador with $21 million and Panama with $4 million.

Most important suppliers
In the first half of last year, 53% of the value imported from Central America was from China, 30% from India, 3% from the U.S., 3% from Japan and 1% from Brazil.
