Meeting to strengthen the film industry in Panama

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade, Carlos Hoyos, held a meeting with Pituka Heilbron, president of the board of directors of the IFF Panama foundation, where they addressed issues such as the economic return program, the attraction of international productions and the strengthening of the Panamanian film industry.

During the meeting, key strategies were discussed to attract international investments and encourage the development of new local productions with the aim of consolidating Panama as a prominent film center in the region.

Pituka Ortega Heilbron is a renowned Panamanian film director and producer, known for conducting the IFF Panama International Film Festival, an event that has been held annually in Panama since 2012.

Among his most outstanding works is “Historias del Canal” (2014), a film composed of five documentaries that was presented at the 68th Festival of Cannes. In addition, it was one of the films shortlisted for the 2015 Goya Award and was exhibited at the Ibero-American Film Week in Cairo.
