Mark Heyer captures the culture here in Boquete

News from Panama / Thursday, November 10th, 2011

Photography is both an art and a science. Photography allows us to express our feeling and emotions and capture the soul of people around you.  Mark Heyer is a friend of mine here in Boquete who continues to show me the talent that comes from the true enjoyment of what he does.  Here in his own words is a note and pictures from last weeks holidays here in Boquete.

“After almost three years living in Boquete, I am finally beginning to sort out the parades. While the November 28 parade is the big one, the November 3-4 parades feature the local schools and institutions.

If you think the annual parades are just a nuisance to interfere with your busy and very self-important life, you are missing one of the best things that Panama has to offer – and  they happen right in our own town. These parades are a window into the soul of the Panamanian culture and the beauty, care and grace that they exhibit is quite extraordinary. They are also a generational melting pot, where the youngest children participate and learn the culture that will carry them into adulthood.

Once again it is my pleasure to offer a photographic tribute to the wonderful people of Panama.
