On December 3, the city of Panama became one more box on the chesss board, when the second edition of the Panama Chess Festival was held.
For this occasion, delegations from Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Brazil and Panamanian chess players from all over the country, gathered to participate in the festival in a totally family atmosphere, where there were also cultural presentations and pre-chess for the youngest were counted.
In this international sports event, Rey Enigma, a Spanish chess player of great popularity in his native country and Latin America, attended as a special guest, conquering the hearts of children and adults in front of an audience that exceeded 600 people.
The sports fair was staged by the Ampyme Convention Center, and within the framework of it a chess meeting was held with 188 participants of all ages, who through the Blitz modality by category, were beaten to select three winners per category, who had the honor of challenging Rey Enigma.
Likewise, the Festival had six great masters, who played simultaneously with the participants of the tournament, among which the national champion of Cuba, GM Elier Miranda and the Spanish Grand Master Pepe Cuenca stand out, playing a total of 110 simultaneous in this event.
With the celebration of this international tournament Chess Logistic put this edition in style, making it a mandatory date within the Panamanian chess calendar, through which the benefits of this sport are promoted as a transversal tool that enhances cognitive development.
