It has been a busy selling season coupled with building 5 homes and getting our son off to college. We were in the mood for a little Island time away from everything. What better place to do this than Isla Palenque where Susie and I have enjoyed many stays with our good friend Ben Loomis who is the developer and my good drinking buddy. You can watch the sunset while you swim in the warm ocean water in front of Las Rocas Beach Bar and maybe come back and get some tapas.
Or maybe a privately catered dinner or lunch on the beach.
So, I brought Ben a new book on the Dead Rabbit Bar in New York City whose owners have won Worlds Best Bar two times in the last 5 years. They have 78 concoctions with up to 8 ingredients each and Ben and I were out to study their mixology. Practice makes perfect right!
Ben had the largest selection of rum that I have seen and some that I have not seen.
Earlier this year, Susie and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary at Isla Palenque.
I got Susie into her wedding dress and we strolled out onto the beach for some fun and pictures.
The resort is really special and the beach bar is second to none in Panama. People ask why it is expensive here. Well number one you are on a private 400 acre Island, number 2 you are maybe 2 of 12 people who might be staying here when the Villa is full. No screaming kids, no 4 wheelers riding up and down the beach, just peace and quiet except when the monkeys remind you that you are in their house.
Our suite was up top and was quite luxurious.
The Villa is incredible and the setting right over the ocean is as well.
This trip, Ben gave us the deluxe suite which has an incredible view of the ocean and the jungle right outside.
Open up the sliding doors to the jungle view and enjoy a good soak.
We enjoyed evenings here watching the lightening on the ocean during a tropical downpour. Makes for nice sleeping weather at night.
If you come to Boquete for a visit, take time to go to Isla Palenque, you will really enjoy this place I call Fantasy Island
