With the aim of reactivating construction in the interior of the Republic, the Minister of Housing and Territorial Planning (Miviot), Jaime Jované, met with the promoters and investors of housing projects of social interest in the provinces of Chiriquí, Veraguas, Coclé, Herrera and Los Santos.
The meeting with the real estate developers of the provinces, seeks to obtain information from both parties and to follow up on the concerns, suggestions and essential changes to the institution’s programs and on the requests of the sector regarding pending commitments.
In this sense, the president of the Association of Promoters of Chiriquí, (Aprochi), Carlos Troetsch, described as fruitful, assuring that they are on the right path to reactivate the construction and address issues of interest about processes, permits, financing and the mechanisms to face the pending commitments with the activity.
He also highlighted the initiative of the Miviot to request the extension for 6 months and more of the Solidarity Housing Fund (FSV) program and on the regulations of the preferential interest regime on certain mortgage loans in the construction industry.
For his part, the director of Private Investment Promotion, Luis Pimentel, indicated that despite the fact that the program lost validity, the management updates the work left by the last administration so that the promoters once reactivated can promote and speed up the paralyzed procedures, flow of resolutions, promise of payments and others.
Pimentel said that two budget items in the order of US$ 20 million and another of US$ 40 million are being processed to face the outstanding debts with the promoters and investors during the years 2022, 2023 and January and February 2024.
