Panamanian exporters from the Chiriquí region, Azuero peninsula and West Panama, recently managed to export products such as papaya, pineapple and watermelon to Europe and America, as a direct result of their participation in international fairs.
The Authority for the Attraction of Investments and the Promotion of Exports (PROPANAMA) recently visited several exporting entrepreneurs from the interior of the country, who have confirmed the exports.
Such is the case of the companies Potuga Company S.A that exported to Europe: England and Holland 260 containers of seedless watermelon; the company Capitán Piña S.A five (5) aerial pallets of MD-2 pineapple to Spain and France; Panafruit S.A. about 100 air boxes of fresh papaya Tainung variety to Aruba; while for the United States) the
Engineer Carlos Campos, CEO of the company Potuga Company, S.A., pointed out that “our innocuous, cleaner, more selective and effective process in the treatment given to the fruit and its packaging, make the difference in quality in the market.”
On the other hand, Mauricio Rodríguez, Chemical Engineer of the company Panafruit, said that: “we are producers and exporters of papaya in the U.S., Canada and Europe, we use generous practices with the environment and we have a certification from the U.S. Food and Medicine Administration, which forces us to have production and management practices in what is fruit.
Rodríguez added “our crops have a high percentage of organic and natural products that reduces the use of chemical fertilizers in the slightest. We also have the Global Gap certification that allows fruit to enter the European market in compliance with quality standards.”
Dora Espinosa, general manager of Tropical Fruit Company, Md-2 pineapple export company, said that the company has been in the agro-export market for twelve years and has been certified by FairTrade International and Global Gab.
