International executives know about the operation of STATCOM to strengthen electricity infrastructure in the region

In order to strengthen the electrical infrastructure in the Central American region, senior executives of the Electrical Interconnection System of the Central American Countries (SIEPAC), met with directors of the Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica, S.A. (ETESA), to learn about the Synchrono-Static Compensator, (STATCOM), which operates in the Panama II Substation.

With this visit that marks a milestone in regional cooperation in the field of electrical energy, SIEPAC executives had the opportunity to witness live demonstrations and receive detailed explanations about the operation and benefits of this innovative technology.

The delegation composed of representatives of various strategic areas of SIEPAC, was received by the technical team headed by the general manager of ETESA, the engineer Carlos Mosquera Castillo, who leads the development and implementation of STATCOM in Panama, along with the technical team of the company.

Mosquera explained to visitors that STATCOM is the investment of the state-owned company in a cutting-edge technology that aims to significantly improve the stability and quality of the electricity supply in the region.

“The new equipment with state-of-the-art technology and guarantor of efficiency in the energy transition has an investment of US$45 million,” said the ETESA manager.

Mosquera reiterated the importance of continuing to work hand in hand with the SIEPAC team, to ensure a reliable and sustainable electricity supply for all countries in the region.
