This is a great article from The Miami Herald that discusses Miami.  This is one market out of hundreds where hidden wealth has been invested and not all of it legitimate.  I can remember 30 years ago looking out the window of my office on Brickell Avenue and seeing guys carrying bags out of a limo and into some of the biggest banks in Miami.  Ah yes, the days of Miami Vise and Tony Montana!!

“At the end of 2011, a company called Isaias 21 Property paid nearly $3 million — in cash — for an oceanfront Bal Harbour condo.

But it wasn’t clear who really owned the three-bedroom unit at the newly built St. Regis, an ultra-luxury high-rise that pampers residents with 24-hour room service and a private butler.”
