Housing Market in Panama: What to Expect in 2017

This year the union of housing developers plans to build 10,958 houses and apartments and generate sales of $979 million, 23% more than in 2016.

Figures from the National Council of Housing Promoters (Convivienda) indicate that in 2016, 8,864 houses were built and sales of $793 million were made, an increase of almost 8% compared to 2015.

The report adds that of the total number of homes sold in 2016, most corresponded to homes priced between $40,000 and $80,000.

As to the form of financing used for house buying, Convivienda’s report indicates that 8 out of 10 homes with prices of up to $120 thousand were acquired with the terms of the Preferred Interest Act.

This year Convivienda plans to build 10,958 homes and generate sales of $979 million, 23% more than the sales generated in 2016. The union of promoters in the housing segment expect that most of the sales generated will be priced between $65,000 and $80,000. The province where most of the new homes will be concentrated is Panama, followed by La Chorrera and Arraiján.
