Government of Panama assures that it has invested US$800 million in works in Bocas del Toro

Within the framework of the International Sea Fair, one of the most important in the tourist province of Bocas del Toro, the Government of Panama announced that more than $800 million has been invested in the region in streets, aqueducts and homes among other projects from 2019 to date.

The presentation of the investments and projects was attended by Faye Brathwaite, the provincial head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). The official stressed that the figure is part of the investments that the State has made since 2019.

Brathwaite stressed that public investment, in this region of the country, is aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens and among the main ones is that of the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) which amounts to US$384 million, the Institute of Aqueducts and National Sewers (IDAAN) with an investment of US$152 million.

As for sports, Pandeportes maintains projects for the sum of US$44 million in projects, the Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning (MIVIOT) US$ 54 million in housing solutions, the Social Security Fund (CSS) US$41.5 million with the construction of the new hospital in Almirante, among other important investments.

He added that most of the projects are developed in the 19 vulnerable corregimientos, in the province of Bocas del Toro, which are part of the Colmena Plan.
