Tailor made tourist packages, modifications in hotels, and learning the Mandarin language, are just some of the aspects that companies must work on in order to receive tourists from China.
The bilateral tourism promotion agreement signed between the governments of China and Panama, after they reestablished diplomatic relations in June 2017, involves much more than a simple framework to promote the arrival of tourists, but also contemplates the requirements that Panama must meet in order to be categorized as a country authorized to be visited by the citizens of China.

Information in their language in tourist establishments and hotels, gastronomy and tailor-made tour packages that contemplate other destinations in the region, are just some of the aspects that the tourism sector and the government need to focus on.
Capitalfinanciero.com reports that “…The Tourism Authority of Panama from the month of January will start working on this subject with hotels, tour operators, transporters and services in general. Gustavo Him, head of the ATP, said that “It is a difficult job because we have to involve the private sector, which is the most important because it is the one that will provide the service, and make it understand the needs of Chinese visitors. In addition, they also need to be certified,” explained the head of the ATP.“

Him added that “…The goal is for 30 thousand to 50 thousand visitors from China to land in the country in the first year. The idea is to go from less to more, to manage a flow of tourists who leave the country contented`and we have to do it little by little in order to be successful`.“
