The fuel subsidy is extended until April 1st

News from Panama / Friday, February 17th, 2023

The Cabinet Council approved the extension of the price of the gallon of solidarity fuel to $3.25 for 95- and 91-octane gasoline, as well as diesel.

This measure approved by the Ministers of State will be in force from next February 16 for an additional 44 days, that is, until April 1, 2023.

While fuel costs worldwide are very high, in Panama – with the rate of $3.25 per gallon – it has one of the cheapest fuel prices in the world.

To maintain this price of the gallon of fuel, according to the government, “a fiscal sacrifice is made in order to alleviate the high costs of products and services to the general population, as well as a relief for collective, selective, collegiate and cargo transport.”

With this, the government seeks to continue promoting economic growth in sectors such as: agriculture, livestock, manufacturing, fishing, construction, trade, industry, tourism, among others, in addition to the generation of jobs for the country to advance and ensure that inflation remains among the lowest worldwide.
