Free Zone is Being Prepared

The company responsible for building the logistics zone, that will operate under the free zone regime at Tocumen airport, expects to start in November.

The Mota-Engil Consortium, winner of the tender, has planned to begin in early November the work of land leveling, construction of access roads and installation of public services, for the development of about 20 logistics warehouses.

According to Tocumen S.A., the first phase of the free zone of the Tocumen International Airport will be developed on a surface of approximately 18 hectares, with a budget of $14 million.

The tender documents state that the winning company will have a period of 385 days to execute civil works of land leveling, construction of infrastructure, installation of basic services, fencing of the area, parking lots for cars, drainage, streets, customs control points, wastewater treatment plant, administrative offices, as well as processing all required licensing by the Government and the Municipality of Panama.
