Responding to the growing demand for the air route, Air China confirmed that it will increase the weekly frequencies it operates between Beijing and the Panamanian capital from one to three in the coming months.
Although did not specify the date when the three frequencies would start operating, officials from the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) confirmed that Air China had informed them of the decision to expand its operations in the country.

Denise Guillen, deputy administrator of the ATP, told Elcapitalfinanciero.com that the announced decision “… is positive for Panama, since it is well known that the People’s Republic of China is one of the fastest growing tourist markets in the world.”
Guillen added that the increase in the number of flights “… will allow Panama, through the Tourism Promotion Fund (Promtur), to develop promotional campaigns to show the Chinese population the tourist attractions that the country has, in search of increasing the arrival of visitors from China as well as from other Asian countries, which will translate into a greater hotel occupation and a greater economic spillover in the country.”
The air route between the two countries has been in operation for almost two years, as the first Air China flight arrived at Tocumen International Airport on April 5, 2018.
