Finally, the Port in Pedregal will get a Fish Market

News from Panama / Thursday, June 7th, 2012

When I first went to Pegregal to buy some fresh catch of the day I was surprised not to find a fish market but several homes with signs out front advertising fish.  What a shame I thought that there was not a central place to compare what was available and make sure I did not get over charged.  Well, it looks like we will finally see the town get a central market.

The Chiriqui province will have a market for seafood which will be located in  Pedregal.  Orders have been given to proceed with the construction of this infrastructure   by the general administrator of the Maritime authority of Panama (AMP), Roberto Linares, who indicated that it will cost $345,000.   In Pedregal it has been the constant complaint of fishermen and consumers because of the  lack of a center of collection for the products of the sea. It was reported that in a period of 12 months the company Glisco Groups must submit the work, which will have administrative offices, a center of collection and processing, among other facilities area.
