Evo Morales to Attend Cortizo´s Taking Office in Panama

Bolivian President, Evo Morales, attended this Monday the swearing-in of the elected President of Panama, Laurentino Cortizo, an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations, reported Sunday the Deputy FM, Carmen Almendras.

 

Cortizo, representing the Democratic Revolutionary Party, won the elections on May 5 with 33.33 percent of valid ballots, followed by Romulo Roux, candidate for Cambio Democratico, with 31 percent.

Almendras stressed that Morales presence in that and other similar ceremonies is another example of Bolivia’s integration in the region and its link to international law.

The level of confidence that Bolivia has in the international context, marked by its economic growth and social indicators of the last 13 years, is also recognized by the new Latin American governments, she set out.

´We are lucky that our President is taken into account and invited and that is not only personal, the President represents Bolivians and in that sense it is the Bolivian people who should be flattered, honored by this consideration, which we did not have before.´

Panamanian official sources revealed that over 90 delegations have already confirmed their presence at the ceremony of taking office, this July 1.

The King of Spain, who arrives in Tocumen Internatioan Airport this Monday , as well as, at least 10 Presidents and six Vice Presidents, most from the region will be among the personalities attending the event.
