Electricity: $19 Million Contract Awarded

Metro de Panamá awarded AES Panama, S.A. the contract to supply energy and meters, in the form of a Large Passive Customer of the Wholesale Electricity Market, for a 60-month period.

The companies that submitted their bids in the tender were AES Panamá, S.A. with a proposal of 0.06 per kilowatt-hour, Enel Fortuna S.A. with 0.06 per kilowatt-hour, Tecnisol II, S.A. with 0.07 per kilowatt-hour and Bahía Las Minas Corp. with 0.08 per kilowatt-hour.

After evaluating the bids, Metro de Panamá, S.A. decided to award AES Panamá, S.A. the contract for the amount of up to $19.3 million, at the rate of 0.0697 cents of a dollar per kilowatt-hour ($0.0697 kWh).

The Contractor shall include the supply, certification, installation, commissioning and maintenance of the four (4) meters that comply with the SMEC requirements necessary for the measurement of the energy required by MPSA in the aforementioned points during the term of this contract. MPSA’s facilities already have current transformers (CT’s) and potential transformers (PT’s) with SMEC specifications.
