Economic Activity in Central America Up 3%

The monthly index of economic activity in the region, compiled by CentralAmericaData, registered a year-on-year growth of 3% in April.

Central American IMAE
In April, the monthly variation of the Central American IMAE prepared by CentralAmericaData was -4.29%, falling from 124.42 in March to 119.08 in April. 

Regional IMAE variation 
The inter-annual variation of the Central American IMAE in April was 2.9%, which is lower than the 4.38% registered in the same month of the previous year.  When analyzing the year-on-year variation in April of the last five years, it can be seen that the highest level was recorded in 2013 with 7.21% and the lowest in 2014 with 2.59%.

IMAE variation by country
In April, Panama recorded the highest year-on-year growth in its economic activity, reaching a variation of 6.24%, followed by Nicaragua with 4.85%, Honduras with 4.60%, Costa Rica with 2.23%, Guatemala with 2.03% and El Salvador with 0.11%.
