The president-elect of Panama, José Raúl Mulino appointed engineer Henry Josep Faarup Mauad as director in charge of the construction of the Panama-David railway project, one of the most ambitious projects of the new Government.
At a press conference, Mulino assured that Faarup Maud will have the advice of the engineer Roberto Roy, who holds the position of Consultant in Engineering and Construction of the new Government and César Pinzón, the latter recently ratified as the new director of the Panama metro.
During his first words, Faarub, a renowned Panamanian civil engineer, pointed out that the construction of the Panama-David Train project is currently planned to make a Public Private Partnership (APP).
As for the cost of construction of the work, he pointed out that although it is premature to calculate a real cost, “It is estimated that the work would be between US$5,000 and US$8 billion, but that everything would depend on the Feasibility Study, another of Design and another of Route.”
The railway project that will have an extension between 350 and 400 kilometers and that will connect the capital of the country and the border province of Chiriquí, is one of the campaign promises of President-elect José Raúl Mulino.
