Panama soon will be a nonstop flight away from the Bay Area.
Starting Sept. 17, Copa Airlines will begin daily service from San Francisco International Airport to Panama City’s Tocumen International Airport, using Boeing 737-800 aircraft that seat 138 in the main cabin and 16 in business class.
The flights will feature complimentary food and beverages; personalized entertainment systems with offerings in English, Spanish and Portuguese; and bilingual flight attendants.
It’s a red-eye, with an 11:19 p.m. departure out of SFO and an 8:32 a.m. arrival in Panama. The return flight will leave Panama at 9:41 a.m. and land in the Bay Area at 2:54 p.m.
Copa, founded as the national airline of Panama, has been in operation for 65 years. It now flies to 74 destinations in North, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.
