With an investment of US$14 million, a new COOLECHE food concentrate plant was inaugurated, located in Concepción, Chiriquí, a cooperative, which brings together 500 producers and contributes about 70% of the production of grade “A” milk in Panama, reaffirms with this investment its leadership in the agricultural sector.
This modern plant represents a key step to strengthen the country’s dairy production chain, guaranteeing high quality standards and promoting food self-sufficiency.
During his speech, Minister Moltó, who was present, highlighted the importance of protecting national production and maintaining the prestige of Panamanian milk in the markets.
“Panama has an unwavering commitment to its milk production. We will continue to defend our productive sovereignty and ensure fair conditions for our producers,” he said.
He also reiterated that the MICI will continue to work in commercial negotiations with responsibility, ensuring the interests of the sector and guaranteeing fair rules in the market.
Milk production in Panama supports more than 270,000 Panamanians and is a pillar of agribusiness. In this sense, Moltó stressed that their protection is not only an economic issue, but also a matter of public health and food safety.
